Exhausting Fun

So, over the 4th we went with my parents to Bear Lake. I was nervous cause I am so afraid of the water, espcially when it comes to my kids. I have been afraid since I was little, probably because my dad used to stay at the bottom of the pool for as long as he could to "tease" us... Instead I now have a severe phobia of drowning! Anyways, it was tons better than I expected and I was pleasantly surprised. We got there on Thursday evening and my dad rented wave runners for the following day at the beach. The beach was very clean and the water was really nice. The kids hadn't been to a real beach for a while, and Haleigh never, so they were super excited and loved every minute of being able to create muddy sand all over without getting in trouble and then going into the lake to wash up. I swore to not go on a wave runner because of my water phobia, plus being 7 months pregnant. But Roger convinced me to give it a try since they were two seaters and I went out with him and Haleigh riding in the front and me in the back. I was instantly freaked out and my 2 year old is in the front saying, "Wheee!" However, I made him take me back after just a minute of being out. I sat on the beach taking pictures with my dad's camera and video recorder - since amazingly enough - I forgot my own. So, when I get those pics I will post them. There are some good ones of the kids in the sand. Anyways, right before we were getting ready to head back to camp Roger convinced me to go out one more time and drive myself. I finally agreed, knowing I would be in control. It was so cute because my son Tyler hadn't dared to go out, completely ran away anyone tried to make him go on one. Then he saw me getting on and he instantly wanted to go with me. It made me feel good knowing he trusted me and that we were conquering our fears together. I took it pretty easy at first and then once I got the hang of it we took off a little. By the end of it Tyler was saying go faster and he wanted to try with dad since he was taking his turns sharp and it looked like fun. I was very proud of us both. I dropped Tyler off and decided to try on my own before getting off myself. Roger came with me again and he said, " you go and I will follow." As soon as he said that I knew I was safe and that he was by my side encouraging me and there to protect me. I was out in the middle of the lake thinking wow, cause my fear was almost non existant. I am grateful for a loving husband and for his willingness to "follow me" when I am afraid to go myself. (May sound cheezy, but it is the truth) So, the rest of our weekend we spent sunburned and exhausted! All in all it was a nice trip and the kids had a really good time too. Thanks to my dad who made it all happen! Hope your 4th was great too!!!

I'm so jealous! I love love love Bear Lake. We go up and rent wave runners with my parents every summer. I went when I was about 8 months pregnant with Hannah and the bumping was a little uncomfortable. But it is so awesome to overcome a fear, Go Amy! Superwoman!
